not-so-corporate headshots with the king recruit team

News flash: business headshots don’t have to look all dull and predictable!

I was so happy when Helen Plumridge got in touch about some fun poses and striking portraits to showcase her employees’ personalities. We met through Six Degrees, a fabulous networking group for women in Exeter. So, it was a pleasure to see her again and take photographs of her entire team.

Spoiler alert: these aren’t your usual team headshots (you know, the boring ones where every employee looks like they were forced there at gunpoint 🙄).

“We’ve got some new members of the team and wanted something that was fresh, striking, and, to be honest, a bit of fun.”

introduce yourself and what you do

My name is Helen Plumridge. I am the founder and managing director of King Recruit and King Executive.

We specialise in recruitment for every commercial discipline within business: tech, digital, finance, sales, HR, and right up to executive levels.

We are a team of seven based in Exeter but covering the whole South West region, helping companies find future talent today.

why are you here?

We wanted some exciting brand photos for King Recruit and our new team members.

I had seen Rosie’s own photos and those she takes of her clients and thought they were SUPER!

and what type of photos were you after?

We wanted poses that encapsulate us as people, because I think otherwise you're looking at a picture that's quite stiff and starchy.

And, actually, modern culture is all about having fun, creating a team, and having a bit of a vibe. So, I love the fact that we’re using different colours and having fun in the actual photos as well.

what do you think is different about having a shoot with rosie rather than another photographer?

I've just seen lots of Rosie’s photos online. They ALL look incredible: so bright and vibrant. I think Rosie brings out that kind of personality, especially with women.

So, it was a no-brainer for us.

how was your experience?

We all had a fantastic day out of the office.

We had some great food and were made to feel really welcome. I think everyone enjoyed having their hair and makeup done. We also had fun during the actual photoshoot, too.

Definitely a great day out!

What a fabulous time we all had 🥳 Too many companies are still sticking to the same old plain headshots that end up looking interchangeable and forgettable.

I’m so glad Helen and I were on the same page! These colourful and scroll-stopping business portraits will definitely stand out against those of her most corporate competitors.
